Today will be a long day.
The first thing we need to do is make Dax's birthday card. I made a card for Bodhi's party on Sunday, but the important thing is to get the one done today - Kai wanted to make this one. This is what he came up with.

The pool was nice since to the right of the divider it was about 3 feet deep. On the other side of the divider, they had a diving board, I'm not sure how deep that is, but maybe 8-10 feet? I have no idea. The water was warm.
They had Costco pizza and then a big cake.
We left when the party was almost over. We hadn't been to gymnastics on Saturday in at least three weeks. He almost did a somersault on his own today.

When we got home, we replaced the rug in the living room. The rug is shedding, and we thought it might be good to start new after 14 years.
After dinner, we went outside to find a turtle laying eggs in our yard. It was just happening, so we watched and observed.
It laid about 5 eggs and covered it up, and left. It went somewhere near the edge of our house and disappeared.
Kai got his notebook out to make some observations.
We spoke with our neighbor Feng Li about it. She is probably the first person we met in our neighborhood in 2010. She donated a very small cage to help protect the eggs from dogs or other curious animals (and from us stepping hard on the soil). The eggs will be there until late-August, early-September.
